Find Madison County Released Inmates

Madison County released inmates may appear in county jail history, Florida corrections records, court files, or post-release supervision data. The right source depends on whether the person left the county jail, a state prison, or another custody system. A search for Madison County released inmates therefore starts by identifying the facility and the kind of release involved. County booking and release records document a local jail episode, while state offender records track prison discharge and supervision. Madison County released inmates may no longer appear on a current roster, so a complete lookup also checks historical records and the office that created them.

Madison County Release Meaning

A Madison County release record describes the end of one custody episode. It does not always mean a person walked free. Someone may leave Madison County Jail after bond, time served, dismissal, sentence completion, or a court order. A departure may also be a transfer to the Florida Department of Corrections, another jail, a federal authority, or immigration custody. That person remains confined even though the local booking has closed.

The source must match the institution. The Sheriff keeps the county booking and release history. The Florida Department of Corrections, or FDC, maintains prison and state-supervision records. Courts explain the legal event behind a release. Federal agencies track their own cases. A current jail roster answers who is held now; it is not a complete list of Madison County released inmates. Once the booking is closed, use historical release fields and the responsible records office.

Discharge
The formal end of custody or a correctional status.
Time served
Release after the required custody time and lawful credit have been satisfied.
Detainer
A request or legal hold from another authority that can prevent community release.
Transfer
Movement to another custodian, not freedom from custody.

Madison County Release Types

The release label guides the next check. SmartWEB can establish that a Madison County Jail booking reached released status, but its public result does not state the release reason, authority, destination, or receiving agency. The court docket and a Sheriff release sheet fill those gaps. State-prison discharge uses a different record.

A probation order can follow a court case without a state-prison term. Parole is conditional community release from an eligible prison sentence, while probation is court-ordered supervision. Neither term should be inferred from the word “Released” alone.

Madison Bond Release Sequence

The Madison County Jail information page gives useful local context. A person who has not bonded appears before a judge within 24 hours of arrest. The judge states the charges and bond amount, and the jail then provides a reasonable chance to contact a chosen bondsman or family member. This describes the bond-out path, not a guaranteed release time.

A bond figure in SmartWEB does not prove that bond caused the release. A later court order, transfer, dismissal, or other disposition may control. Pair the booking episode with the matching docket event and request the release authority when the precise reason matters. The physical release time can follow the court event because staff must complete processing and check for holds.

What Madison Release Records Show

A narrow request for one booking episode produces a clearer answer than a request for “all inmate information.” Identify the full committed name, approximate booking or release date, and booking or case number when known. Ask for the booking and release record together so the release event remains tied to the correct arrest.

FieldWhat it can establish
Name, aliases, birth dateWhether the record belongs to the intended person
Booking number and timesThe precise Madison County Jail episode
Charges and court casesThe legal files connected to the custody event
Bond type and amountThe bond set for the booking, not necessarily the final release method
Release date and timeWhen the Sheriff closed the custody episode
Authority and release typeThe legal or operational basis for departure
Destination or receiving agencyWhether the event was a community release or transfer
Hold and property notationsOther custody claims and the documented return of property

Some operational fields may be exempt or redacted. The custodian should cite the legal basis for withholding a portion. A court file uses different fields, and an FDC record uses a DC number, prison status, sentence information, and state release dates. Keep those systems separate.

Request Madison Release Records

The Sheriff’s Public Records Custodian accepts requests by telephone, e-mail, in person, or by mail. A requester generally need not explain why an ordinary public record is wanted. Keep the scope to one booking and ask for electronic copies and a cost estimate before charges are incurred.

  1. Give the full name, date range, and booking or case number if known.
  2. Request the booking sheet, release time, release type or authority, transfer destination, holds, charge and bond fields, and booking photograph.
  3. Ask for an estimate before extensive labor or copying charges are incurred.
  4. Request the statutory citation for each redaction or withheld record.
  5. Use the Clerk for a judicial order and FDC Public Records for a prison discharge file.

Under Florida Statutes section 119.07, standard paper copies may cost up to 15 cents for a one-sided page, plus 5 cents for a two-sided page. Other formats may carry actual duplication cost, and extensive work may support a reasonable special-service charge. The Sheriff publishes no flat Madison release-record fee or fixed turnaround.

Florida Release Record Access

Florida’s constitutional right of access and chapter 119 public-records law cover nonexempt agency records. The right is broad, but it does not erase specific limits. Juvenile information, protected victim details, medical data, sealed or expunged matters, active-investigation material, and security-sensitive jail data may be withheld or redacted.

Online display is not the same as legal retention. SmartWEB has returned old release records, but Madison County publishes no guarantee for the depth or completeness of that online history.

Florida’s GS2 schedule treats booking records, 24-hour commitment and release lists, and inmate incarceration files as distinct categories with a minimum retention of one anniversary year after release. Jail docket books have permanent retention. Those statewide minimums do not promise that every field remains on the public portal. For an older event, ask the custodian for the booking record, commitment and release list, incarceration file, or jail docket entry by name.

Madison Court Release Context

The Madison Clerk links to a county-specific Civitek court portal. That portal offers anonymous Public access as well as credentialed choices. The Clerk separates felony or circuit criminal matters from misdemeanor or county criminal matters, so charge level and case number help locate the correct file.

The Madison county-40 court search may show a bond order, dismissal, plea, sentence, custody credit, probation, warrant, or final disposition. It explains why release became lawful. It does not replace the Sheriff’s physical release time. One arrest may also lead to more than one case, so check linked cases before concluding that every hold ended.

The official portal’s anonymous entry screen shows how public and registered access are separated:

The court result should be reconciled with the matching jail booking rather than treated as a stand-alone release certificate.

Madison Release Records After Relief

The Madison Clerk Seal and Expunge page supplies the local filing route. It states that an FDLE Certificate of Eligibility is required before the petition and that the certificate expires after 12 months. Criminal departments provide the petition packets. Florida sections 943.0585 and 943.059 govern court-ordered expunction and sealing.

Sealing restricts public access under law. Expunction directs eligible agencies to handle records under the order, while FDLE keeps the confidential record authorized by statute. Neither an acquittal nor a dismissal automatically removes the booking history. If a once-public Madison release record disappears, restricted access may be one explanation. It is not proof that the episode never occurred, and access controls must not be bypassed.

Find Madison County Released Inmates

Start with the facility, not a broad name search. Madison County Jail, Madison Correctional Institution, and Madison Work Camp belong to two separate custody systems. The county portal cannot certify a state-prison discharge, and FDC warns that its database excludes people sentenced only to county jail or county probation.

  1. Search SmartWEB with Released Inmates Only for a county jail episode.
  2. Match the name, booking number, booking and release times, charges, and case data.
  3. Check FDC by DC number or name if the person entered state prison or state supervision.
  4. Read the Madison criminal docket for the bond, sentence, dismissal, warrant, or other legal event.
  5. Use Florida VINE for custody notifications, then confirm the event with the reporting agency.
  6. For federal or immigration custody, move to BOP, the federal docket, USMS, or ICE.
  7. Request the release sheet when an online result is missing, unclear, or appears to describe a transfer.

A person usually drops off the current jail population after release. Search the historical release record before treating absence from the live roster as proof.

For a constructed same-day window, follow the local steps on the Madison jail releases page. That search answers a recent-list question. A named-person search should still follow all matching custody systems.

Madison SmartWEB Release Search

The official Madison SmartWEB search offers Last, First, and Middle Name fields, booking-date and release-date bounds, a search-type selector, and sorting by name or booking date. Search type has three choices: Current Inmates Only, Released Inmates Only, and Both Current And Released. Select Released Inmates Only before entering release dates.

A reviewed historical result displayed status, booking number, booking and release date and time, age at booking, total bond, an address supplied at booking, charge and court fields, and a photo link. It did not display release reason, authority, destination, or receiving agency. Exact release-date fields are useful, but the Sheriff does not publish a refresh interval or online retention period.

The official form demonstrates the difference between its default booking view and a released-person search:

Use the released filter and date bounds shown in the interface. The default “BOOKED Last 24 Hours” label is not a release list.

Madison Prison Release Boundary

FDC currently lists Madison Work Camp as a satellite of Madison Correctional Institution and gives the main institution a capacity of 1,054. A 2021 PREA audit reported the camp closed at that audit time. Those statements concern different dates. The safe current description is a listed satellite whose separate operating status and contact details should be confirmed with FDC.

A move between the work camp, Madison CI, or another FDC institution is an internal transfer. It is not release. A community discharge should appear in the statewide FDC release or offender record, and a later supervised-population record may show conditions after prison. The Madison County Jail portal has no authority over that state-prison event.

Madison Release Alerts and Transfers

Florida VINE can search a specific person and register notifications for offered custody events. A Released status and status date are strong leads, but they describe the reporting agency’s event. Check for another jail, an FDC transfer, or a detainer. A missing VINE result does not prove release, and Madison participation should be checked in the live agency list or by telephone.

Federal cases require federal sources. The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal inmates from 1982 onward and can show a release date or “Not in BOP custody.” That phrase may also reflect another authority or placement. Federal pretrial detainees may be held by USMS in local contract space without being sentenced BOP inmates.

ICE uses the Online Detainee Locator System. It accepts an A-number and country of birth or exact biographical data. A closed Madison booking followed by ICE custody is a transfer, not community release. Madison County has no verified BOP prison or dedicated ICE detention center.

Madison Registration After Release

The Madison County Jail also serves as a local registration point for people who are legally required to register. The Sheriff registration page says criminal registration can be completed around the clock after calling first. Sexual-offender registration is listed for weekdays during posted business hours, excluding holidays.

This is a narrow post-release status channel, not a general list of Madison County released inmates. Most people released from custody do not belong in an offender registry. A registry photograph or status should never be treated as the booking release time. Confirm the jail event through SmartWEB or Sheriff records and use the FDLE registry only for a person subject to those statutory duties.

Madison Release Status Sources

Each database answers a different question. Conflicting results often reflect timing or a transfer between agencies rather than an error. Read the custodian and date on every result.

Madison County Release Facilities

Madison County Jail is the Sheriff-operated county facility. Its historical SmartWEB record and Sheriff release sheet document local departures. Madison Correctional Institution is an adult male FDC prison, and Madison Work Camp is currently listed as its satellite. Both state facilities use the FDC offender, release, and supervision databases.

A person may move from the county jail to FDC without entering the community. Likewise, a person may move between FDC units without discharge. Confirm the receiving system before describing the event as a release. For the county jail, call (850) 973-4002 when same-day status matters. For an FDC record, use Central Records when the public database is unclear.
