Madison Privacy Notice

This notice describes what data may be collected when someone uses Madison County Released Inmates, how that data supports the service, and when another party may receive it. By continuing to use the site, a visitor accepts the practices described below.

Information You Submit

A name, location, or other query entered in a search box is sent to the third-party provider that operates the tool. Madison County Released Inmates does not store or log those query terms on its own systems. The provider’s policy applies to its collection and processing.

If a visitor sends an e-mail or contact message, we keep the message and supplied contact details long enough to respond and manage the exchange. We do not share that correspondence outside the organization unless a legal obligation requires disclosure.

Automatic Technical Data

Ordinary web systems and analytics services can collect details when a page loads, including:

  • the Internet Protocol address used for the visit;
  • browser name, version, device type, and operating system;
  • pages viewed and time spent on them;
  • the referring page or site, when available; and
  • date and time stamps tied to site activity.

Cookies and similar technologies help measure how visitors use the site. A browser can block or remove cookies, although some functions may then work differently.

How Data Is Used

Collected data may be used to operate and improve the site, route a query to the selected search partner, understand which pages help visitors, diagnose technical faults, and display advertising that may reflect a visitor’s interests. These uses also support performance and abuse prevention.

Other Sites and Advertising

Links may lead to Madison release records, Sheriff or FDC pages, courts, federal locators, and outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination’s privacy notice and terms govern. Madison County Released Inmates does not control that destination’s data handling.

Advertising partners may use their own systems to recognize activity across different websites and select ads. Any such cross-site processing occurs under the partner’s technology and privacy choices, not as a Madison County government function.

When Data May Be Shared

We do not sell personal data. Limited information may still pass to:

  • search partners that process a submitted query;
  • analytics providers that measure site use;
  • advertising networks that deliver or assess ads; and
  • law enforcement or another government body responding to a valid legal order.

Security Measures

Reasonable, commonly used safeguards are applied to information under our control. No internet connection, hosted service, storage system, or transmission method is completely secure. We therefore cannot promise that data will never be intercepted, lost, or accessed without authorization.

Visitors Under Eighteen

This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted data may use the Contacts page to request review and deletion.

Your Privacy Choices

Subject to applicable law and the limits of the data we hold, a person may ask for a copy of their personal data, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, or an opt-out from certain processing. Browser and device controls can also restrict cookies and some ad personalization. Send a clear request through the Contacts page.

Notice Updates

This privacy notice may be revised when practices, providers, or legal duties change. A revised version takes effect when it is posted here with an updated effective date. Effective July 14, 2026.
